Abortion

So one of my favorite bands released a new album recently called White Crosses. I listened to the song White Crosses and at first had no idea what it was about. I later realized it was about abortion and how in Florida,(where the band is from) hundreds of miniature white crosses were being posted in the front lawn of churches, one cross for every abortion that someone had in the area. I didn't think too much about it until a couple months later when I actually passed a church near my house and saw these white crosses and it hit me. Those people that had an abortion probably have to pass that church and see that and the sign in front. It's almost as if the church has no consideration over those people and instead wants them to feel guilty about what they did. Overall it's just one big guilt trip. Now my personal opinion of abortion is that it's wrong. Everyone knows that there's a chance they can get pregnant if having sex and that nothing really can 100% prevent this from happening. If someone gets pregnant, it's their own fault and they have no one to blame but themselves. Having an abortion, to me, is killing a live being just because you made a mistake. People have so many excuses for it but you know what I say? There are no excuses! People argue that abortion is necessary because say for instance someone is too young and can't support the child, well you can always put the child up for adoption etc. Anyway, even though I disagree with abortion, I still think putting a guilt trip on those people is wrong. It's not like people enjoy having an abortion and many people that do have abortions, I'm sure feel bad as it is. Having these white crosses wont change anything, all they'll do is make a person feel sick to their stomach. Billboards are enough. We don't need to go the extreme to make a person feel bad about themselves. They've already had the abortion so it's done and over with, nothing will change that, not even a guilt trip. Oh, and by the way, I hope everyone had a magnificent Thanksgiving!

Authority Abuse

Last week, a group of protesters at the University of California, Davis were pepper sprayed by the Campus's police for no apparent reason. These students were sitting innocently on the sidewalk, not doing anything whatsoever, no violence, no corruption, just sitting there silently. Anyway, the reason why I'm writing about this when it was all over the news and many people are already familiar with it, is because I question authority and our first amendment rights. Freedom of speech is part of the first amendment, so why is it that just because a cop is the authority, he/she has the right to do something like this? Sure there can be a limit of freedom of speech on individuals if they're speeches were provoking danger, but actually using any type of weapon on them is just outrageous. Some students apparently had to go to the hospital because of it. Yes, cops are supposed to have power and authority, but they abuse it. There are so many so-called "crooked" cops out there that it almost makes all cops look bad. The police are supposed to make people feel safe and protected, they're supposed to be the good guys but now it seems everyone is scared of them or despises them, more so the guilty people. But people are always paranoid if there's a cop behind them because they have to be cautious about making any sort of mistake so they don't get pulled over. They don't even have to be doing anything illegal and they'll still be paranoid. Another thing that grinds my gears are people who have such ignorant thinking towards police. They think that just because they are cops, they are right and this and that. I don't think people realize how often cops commit crimes. Whatever, this blog post is pointless and I'm just rambling on now. I was just shocked by the pepper spraying incident...

Happiness is a Warm Gun

Everyone has depression or pessimism at some point in their lives. But is it healthy to feel this way consistently? I think people take their lives for granted. I believe being depressed and hating so many things is the weakness being released from your soul. It's such a waste of time to feel such negativity when we could accept things the way they are and be happy. Now I'm not saying that people can live in complete happiness because there will always be something that someone doesn't like or something that gets a person down but what I'm saying is it's always a good idea to make the best out of situations you're in. Death is very unexpected and it can happen to anyone at any time. You could die tomorrow for all you know. You could die this very day without even knowing it. Who's to say that there's something better after death? What if your faith is false? Make the best out of what you've got here on Earth because you only have one chance as far as you know. And do you really want to grow old and tell your children or grandchildren that you spent your teenage years hating everything and feeling depressed everyday? You have to overcome life. Grab it by the neck and shake the hell out of it..
